Deptford Jack in the Green

The custom of processing a Jack in the Green on May Day persisted in the Deptford area until the start of the 19th century. The Fowlers Troop Jack in the Green was restarted by members of Blackheath Morris Men and friends in the early 1980s. The whole thing is very confusing to passers by who seem to think that summer just happens automatically!
